At Bluefin Foods we are making the world a better place, and having a lot of fun while doing it!   Bluefin Foods is a fast-growing, early stage, cultivated seafood company based out of Los Angeles, California. As a Research Associate you will be responsible for isolating, culturing, and characterizing fish cell lines and conducting research under the direction of a supervising scientist. The Research Associate will have a significant impact on the company and work alongside the founding team. At Bluefin Foods we are committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and safe workplace. We encourage people of all different backgrounds and abilities to consider a career with us.   Responsibilities As the Research Associate, you will be responsible for:
  • Performing cell culture techniques including routine thawing, culturing, characterizing, and freezing
  • Preparing cell culture media
  • Assisting in primary tissue dissections
  • Performing cell isolations from tissue
  • Characterizing cell lines using molecular biology techniques
  • Maintaining an ELN (Electronic Lab Notebook)
  • Carrying out lab duties like aliquoting reagents, making stock solutions, and general lab duties to support the team
  • Analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data to your supervisor
  Minimum Qualifications
  • B.A / B.S in cell biology, molecular biology or a related field
  • 1+ years of cell culture experience
  • Acute attention to detail and ability to maintain precise notes
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple cell lines and experiments
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • A positive attitude that embraces the challenges and opportunities of a dynamic startup environment
  Bonus Qualifications
  • Experience culturing stem cells, or fish cell lines
  • Familiarity with standard proliferation and viability assays
  • Experience with molecular biology and basic laboratory techniques
