NEXT-TFX, Inc. is developing compaction-resistant reverse osmosis membranes for ultra-high-pressure desalination and brine concentration.

Market Opportunity:

Seawater desalination, industrial brine concentration, direct lithium extraction, and zero liquid discharge (ZLD) applications represent multi-billion-dollar global markets. Conventional RO membranes fail under high-pressure/high-temperature conditions, limiting recovery rates and increasing operational costs. NEXT-TFX targets this $3B–4B addressable segment where conventional RO membranes encounter mechanical and economic limitations.

Technology:

Proprietary thin-film cross-linked (TFX™) RO membranes. TFX maintains structural stability, water permeability, and salt rejection at pressures up to 124 bar and temperatures to 85°C, unlike conventional polyamide membranes that experience flux decline. Membranes integrate into existing spiral-wound module configurations, enabling retrofit deployment without major plant redesign.
