The National Institute of Cannabinoid Research is a non-profit research organization that is crowd-sourcing objective smartphone sensor data and subjective survey data from American users of cannabinoids to accelerate research into their benefits and harms. Because of the restrictions around official human cannabis research, people’s use of a compound can actually accelerate research faster than traditional research. NICR’s goal is to create the largest human cannabinoid database in existence as a reference for legislators, researchers, and pharmaceutical companies. The hope is for the United States’ cannabinoid drug development to catch up with the rest of the world.
